Distinguished teachers, dear students, good morning. Today, the

theme of my speech is: "You and I participate in saving water, and you

and I share a better life."

The four words "conserving water" must be seen frequently in our

daily life. In schools, in shopping malls, in any place where water is used,

these four words will appear. Saving water is easy to say, but in fact, how

many people can actually do it? Some people may think that with so

much water, there is nothing to save, so they don't care about saving

water. Actually, this is a wrong idea.

So next, allow me to use intuitive data to illustrate the importance of

water conservation. 70.8% of the earth's surface is water, but terrestrial

freshwater only accounts for 2.53% of it, and the freshwater resources

that can be directly used by humans only account for 0.34% of the total

freshwater. With a simple calculation, we can know that the fresh water

that humans can directly use is only three-hundred-thousandths of the

total water on the earth. my country's total fresh water is 6% of the

world's total, even more scarce. my country's per capita freshwater

volume ranks 121st in the world, and my country is also one of the 13

countries with the poorest per capita water resources in the world!

Among the more than 600 cities in mainland China, more than 100 have

severe water shortages, and more than 400 are facing water shortage

problems. We should clearly realize that our country's water resources

are very poor!

I believe many people have heard the saying: If we don't save water

now, the last drop of water on the earth will be the tears of human beings!

Classmates, let us act, be a butterfly with wings, start from now, save

every drop of water, and work hard to build our beautiful home together!
