英语中颜色词用法总结

She was so modest, so expressive；she had looked so soft in her then white gown.

义。它与不同的词搭配便有不同的含义，而且有许多意思与该颜色词毫无关系，

在翻译时应特别注意。

五、黑色

黑色在英汉两种语言文化中的联系意义大致相同。例如，黑色是悲哀的

颜色，英美人在葬礼上穿黑色服装，中国人在葬礼上戴黑纱。英语中的“Black

Friday” 指耶稣在复活节前受难的星期五，是悲哀的日子，所以英语中的“black”

就有“不幸、灾难、厌恶、愤怒、忧郁、阴沉”等意义，根据这一民族文化背景

和传统习俗，英语国家的人用 “black Friday”指大灾大难、凶险不祥的日子。

“black”在英语中还象征气愤和恼怒。黑色在汉语和英语中都有阴险、邪恶的含

义；还可表示盈利；也有不好的、坏的、邪恶的意味。

改译

改译就是改译颜色词, 不同语言间的颜色词有各自不同

的颜色意义，因此在英汉翻译中有时就不一定有完全对应的

等值词，这时就要根据汉语的习惯，用人们所熟悉的颜色词

来改译原文的颜色词。

增译 增译就是增译颜色词，原文中无颜色词，译文可根据汉语的表达习

惯，增加适当的颜色词。比如“love pea”不译“爱豆”，可增加一个颜色词译为“红

豆”；“good luck”译为“红运”；“bonus”译为“红利”等。
