I can't figure out where this error is coming from: Error: js/index.umd.BXzp7Rme.js cannot be loaded as its extension is not registered in assetExts

I created the app using npx expo install expo@latest with different presets. I found that the issue might be related to Metro, but I couldn't configure it properly to resolve these files.

The error occurs on all projects with Expo. I didn’t catch the exact moment when it started happening, so it’s likely due to some global configuration. Google and AI suggestions point to editing metro.config.js and adding 'js' to assetExts, but for some reason, this doesn't work.

Here are my versions:

expo-cli 5.0.3 npx expo --version 0.22.16 node 22.14.0

What could be the problem?
