clicking on below command on few items bring down Sitecore with high CPU usage and results in time out errors.

Do not see any exceptions in logs but monitoring tool suggest that below requests and database calls are taking longer time /-/speak/request/v1/expeditorasync/ExperienceEditor.Datasources.GetDatasourceUsagesCount

wondering if it is due to time consumed in fetching large number of links or some circular references, please can someone suggest potential causes if you have come across this?
