A Surprise Birthday Party for Mom

I have the best mom in the whole world! She works really

hard taking care of me and my little brother every single day. She

cooks our meals, helps us with homework, plays games with us,

and tucks us into bed at night with hugs and kisses. My mom is

so kind, caring, and loving. That's why I decided to plan a super

special surprise birthday party for her this year!

Mom's birthday is coming up soon on April 22nd. I've been

thinking about fun ways to celebrate her big day for weeks now.

First, I needed to figure out how to keep it a total surprise. My

dad said he would help me by taking Mom out for a nice lunch

on her birthday. While they're gone, my friends and I are going

to decorate the house and get everything ready.

I made a list of all the things we need to have an amazing

party. Decorations are definitely number one! We'll need

balloons in Mom's favorite colors - pink, purple and blue.

Streamers and a big "Happy Birthday" banner will make the

house look so festive. I'm going to ask my dad to get a cute

birthday cake too. Maybe chocolate since that's Mom's favorite.

Mom loves music, so we'll need to make a special playlist

with all her favorite songs to dance to at the party. I was thinking

of fun songs like "Shake Your Sillies Out" by Raffi and "The

Chicken Dance" because those always make Mom laugh. My

friend Emma is really good at making playlists so she's in charge

of that.

For fun activities at the party, I thought we could have a craft

station where guests can make birthday cards for Mom. She

loves getting handmade cards from me. We'll also play some fun

games like Pin the Smile on Mom since she's always smiling.

Musical Chairs will be perfect to play with the music! I'll ask my

dad to get a few small gifts for prizes.

Food is probably the most important part of any good party.

Since it's just going to be a small family party with a few friends, I

was thinking we could just do snacky foods. Chicken nuggets,

pizza bites, veggie trays with ranch dip, fruit skewers, and

cookies would be really yummy. My dad can pick those up from

the grocery store. We'll also need juice boxes and maybe some

bottles of Mom's favorite soda.
