中华人民解放军是中国共产党领导下的武装力量，每年

的八月一日都是庆祝中国工农红军诞生的日子。中国人民解

放军现役部队由陆军、海军、空军三大军种以及独立的第二

炮兵组成。中国人民解放军队总人数是世界第一，大约有

2285000人，占全国总人数的0.18%。中华人民解放军的军

徽为镶有金黄色边的五角红星，中嵌金黄色“八一”两字，

亦称“八一”军徽。

中国人民解放军受中国共产党中央军事委员会管辖。国

务院领导下的国防部不具备对解放军的控制权，其权力也远

小于中央军事委员会cmc。派遣到军队的官员们确保党的权

力大于军队权力，所以国防部最初的职责是与外国军队联络。

解放军在政治和军事上领导在建立专业化的军事力量、国防

力量、协助国内经济建设和支援紧急情况方面起到了不可估

量的作用。中国人民解放军这一角色需要专业官员的促进，

这些官员要熟知现代武器，并能处理联合的武器操作。全国

的解放军力量分布在七个军事基地，超过20个军事区。

在中国，服兵役是法律规定的强制性义务，但是这一强

制性从来没有实施过，因为有许多人志愿服兵役。在国家有

危难的时候，中国人民武装警察部队和民兵作为中国人民解

放军强大的国防后备力量，主要是作为解放军陆军的后援。
