a college student in the new century, stand here today to

commemorate one of these countless patriotic movements - the

“12.9” youth movement, to cherish the memory of those martyrs

who died bravely in the movement, to carry forward the

patriotism of the martyrs, and to inspire the contemporary

youth to build up their patriotism and to serve the country.

When the Japanese invaders trampled on China’s territory,

and the Kuomintang reactionary government shamelessly adopted

the policy of non resistance, our predecessors defended the

dignity of the motherland with their blood and body. On December

9, 1935, a great Anti Japanese Movement broke out among students

in Beiping, which wrote a glorious chapter in the Chinese youth

movement. Today, we stand here to praise our pride in our

motherland and respect for our revolutionary ancestors with the

unique passion of our young people“ Everyone is responsible

for the rise and fall of the world. No matter Qu Yuan in ancient

times, Qiu Jin and Lu Xun in modern times, as long as they are

Chinese people and descendants of the Yellow River, they all

deeply understand this simple truth. It is the common feeling

of the Chinese nation for generations to love their hometown

and motherland, which are more important than and greater than

The “12.9” movement tells us that all patriots value the

interests of the motherland above everything else“ The

“12.9” movement tells us that personal ideal and future are

closely related to the destiny of the motherland. The

outstanding musician Rachmaninoff said: “if you lose your

motherland, you lose yourself.”“ As a slave to the country,

he can’t even get his personality and freedom. What personal
