巧记英语单词 weigh urge与raise

weigh

1. weigh 可以作连系动词,意思是“有……重,重……”。如:

How much do you weigh? 你体重多少?

2. weigh可作及物动词,意思是“称,称……的重量”。如:

He weighed the parcel in his hand.

他用手估量那个包裹的重量。

3. weigh的名词形式为weight,意为“重量”。常见短语lose weight,意为“减肥”。如:

It is about 20 kilos in weight.

这东西重约20千克。

She is trying to lose weight. 她正在设法减肥。

urge

1. urge是动词,意思是“强烈要求,极力主张”。常用urge sb. to do sth.结构,表示“强烈要求某人

干某事”。如:

He urged me to go home with him.

他强烈要求我跟他一块回家。

2. urge后面还可跟从句,但从句中的谓语动词多用“(should)+动词原形”。如:

They urged that the library (should) be kept open during the vacation.

raise

raise是及物动词。

1. raise意为“筹集,招募”。如:

Our school raised some money for the poor villagers yesterday.

[友情提示] rise也可表示“升起”,但它是不及物动词,主语通常是物。如:
