Nanhu Revolution Memorial Hall
Nanhu Revolution Memorial Hall is located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang
Province, China. The memorial hall serves as a historical site
commemorating the Nanhu Lake Incident and the revolutionary
actions that occurred there during the Chinese Revolution.
The Nanhu Lake Incident took place on October 3, 1927, during
the Northern Expedition led by the Kuomintang Party. The
incident was a crucial turning point in the Chinese Revolution as it
marked the split between the Communist Party of China and the
Kuomintang. The Nanhu Lake Incident resulted in the execution of
numerous communists and marked the beginning of the Chinese
Civil War.
The construction of the Nanhu Revolution Memorial Hall began in
1954 and was completed in 1956. The memorial hall covers an
area of 19,500 square meters and features various exhibition halls,
sculptures, and a memorial tower. Inside the memorial hall, visitors
can explore the historical exhibits that showcase the events leading
up to the Nanhu Lake Incident, as well as the aftermath and the
role it played in shaping modern China.
One of the highlights of the memorial hall is the Nanhu Lake
Monument. The monument stands at 22 meters tall and is made of
marble. It features inscriptions highlighting the significance of the
Nanhu Lake Incident and pays tribute to the revolutionary martyrs
who sacrificed their lives for the communist cause.
Visiting the Nanhu Revolution Memorial Hall provides visitors
with a deeper understanding of the Chinese Revolution and its
impact on modern Chinese history. It is a place of remembrance,
honoring the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for a
revolutionary China.
