剑8 Test 2 Passage 3长难句分析-智课教育出国考试

1. Such associations can be powerful enough so that odours

that we would generally label unpleasant become agreeable, and

those that we would generally consider fragrant become

disagreeable for particular individuals. (剑8 Test 2 Passage 3 )

我们先来认识一些单词：

1. odour (n.气味)

2. agreeable(adj.愉悦的)

句子结构分析：这句话的主干是Such associations can be

powerful enough so that…，so that如此以至于，引导结果状语从句

，第二个that引导定语从句修饰odours，and连连接并列从句，those

指代前面的odours，第三个that引导定语从句修饰those。

译文：这样的联系在强到一定程度时，会让大众普遍不喜欢的气味

变得令特定个体愉快，也会让大众公认为芬芳的气味变得让特定个体讨

厌。

2. The reason often given for the low regard in which smell is

held is that, in comparison with its importance among animals,

句子结构分析：这句话的主干是The reason… is that…the human

sense of smell is feeble and undeveloped。given

for作后置定语修饰The reason，in which引导定语从句修饰the low

regard，that引导表语从句，in comparison

with与……比较而言，做插入语。

译文：嗅觉遭受轻视的原因常常被归结为：相对于十分重视嗅觉功

能的动物而言，人类的嗅觉功能较弱而且不发达。

3. Different smells can provide us with intimateand

emotionally charged experiences and the value that we attach to

these experiences is interiorised(v.使深入内心) by the members of

我们先来认识一些单词：

2. charged (adj. 充满感情的)

句子结构分析：这句话是由and连接的并列句，第一句是简单的主

谓宾结构：Different smells can provide us with intimate and

emotionally charged

experiences。第二句是被动语态，句子主干是the value…is

interiorized by…，that引导定语从句修饰the

value，by表示哪些人吸收这些价值。

译文：不同的气味能为我们提供私人的、感情充沛的精力，我们赋
