Swedish inventor (发明家) Alfred Nobel set up the Nobel Prize in 1895.
He hoped to use his money to honor great scientists. Now every year in
October, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences decides the winners.
Every year, a small number of scientists win because they open a new
world for us. 1. And this year, they take us to see the interesting world of
small things.
What did they find? Let's take a look at two winners.
Recycling cells 细胞“回收”
We recycle things like paper and bottles. But did you know cells recycle
too? A Japanese scientist found it. 2. Cells can eat old cells and use the
good parts to make new cells. This may help to fight off some viruses (病
毒).
3. 我们的身体是如此聪明。 This research won the scientist a Nobel
Prize in medicine. It can help us to prevent some very bad disease.
Tiny robots 微型机器人
The prize in physics goes to three scientists from Europe. 4. 他们制造出
世界上最小的机器。 The machine are so small that our eyes can't see
them.
In the future, scientists can use this idea to make very, very small
robots. 5. When we are ill, the doctor can put a small robot into our
body. It looks for the illness and send medicine right there. Isn't that easy
and quick?

Since its reform and opening up began in the late 1970s, China has made
great achievements in many fields.
1. Beijing's new airport saw four passenger planes complete test flights
Monday morning. At 9 am, on May 13, 2019, the A380 from China
Southern Airlines made the first flight (飞行), taking off from Beijing
Capital International Airport in the northern part of the city. At 9: 30 am,
the plane landed smoothly on the western runway at Beijing Daxing
International Airport.
China's first science fiction (科幻) film The Wandering Earth interests
moviegoers around the world. 2. 中国的科幻电影行业前途光明。
Science fiction is really taking the central stage in China. Let's just see
more of it.
A study from NASA said that the Earth is a greener place than it was 20
years ago. 3. China is leading the world's greening effort. The result
comes mostly from tree-planting programs and intensive agriculture in
China.
Another research scientist and co-author of the study Rama Nemani said,
"4. Once people realize there is a problem, they begin to fix it. In the
1970s and 80s in China, the greening situation was not good. In the 1990s,
people realized it. And today things have improved."
So many achievements make us feel proud of our motherland. 5.“最亲爱
的祖国,你像大海永不干涸。”We want to sing sincerely for her.

Your smart phone may seem like the centre of your entertainment, but a
Kent State University study shows that too much phone use is taking the
fun right out of our spare time.
Researchers watched a group of nearly 500 students and recorded their
daily smart phone use. 1. Those who used their phones too often during
their spare time had more stress than others.
2. 那么,我们可以做些什么来充分利用我们的业余时间呢? We have
collected the following activities that also take a few hours to complete,
but best of all, you'll improve your health in the process.
3. Whether you're at home or on holiday, it's important to stay away from
the Wi-Fi. Walking in nature can do good to your health. As a
professional traveler, Samantha Brown put it in a recent passage, "I put
my map in my back pocket, put down my phones and take a good, long
walk. Just walk around."
Go to bed earlier. What can help improve your mood? Extra sleep,
naturally. Getting the right amount (数量) of sleep is very important to
our health and 4. studies show that we don't get enough of it.
