一、 treat作动词的用法:

1、 treat有"处理"的意思。如:

The farmers treated dry land by irrigating it with water from wells.

农民们通过用井水灌溉来治理旱地。

Waste water from factories should be treated before flowing into rivers.

工厂里的废水在流入河里之前应该经过处理。

He treated this matter too carelessly.

他对这件事的处理太粗心了。

2、 treat作"把……当作……看待"解,常用于短语as / 。如:

They treated each other like brothers.

他们亲如手足。

Don't treat me as / like a child.

别把我当小孩看待。

The police are treating his death as a case of murder.

警察认为他的死是一起谋杀案。

He didn't want to be treated as an honoured guest.

他不愿别人把他当作贵宾对待。

3、 treat还可作"讨论"、"探讨"、"涉及"解,相当于deal with。如:

The magazine treated the progress of medicine.

这本杂志讨论医药的进步。

He treated the subject thoroughly in his book.

他在自己所著的书中详尽透彻地讨论这个问题。

4、 treat还有"治疗"的意思。如:

The doctor suggested treating the case with a new drug.

医生建议用一种新药来治疗这个病例。

They treated her for a broken leg.

他们为她治疗断腿。

His wounds were well treated in the army hospital.

他的伤在陆军医院得到很好的治疗。

注意: treat意为"治疗",并不指治好、治愈;若要表示"治愈某人的病",常用cure sb. of

one's illness。如:

The fresh air on the farm cured him of his headache.

农场的新鲜空气治好了他的头痛病。

Tom's parents try to cure him of his bad habits.

汤姆的父母努力纠正他的不良习惯。

Doctor Brown has cured many patients of their hepatitis.

布朗医生医好了许多病人的肝炎。

5、 treat还有"请客"、"款待"之意,常用于treat sb./ oneself to sth,意为"请某人/自

己吃……"。如:

I'll treat you to lunch this time.

这次我请你吃中餐。

She treated herself to a new hat.

她给自己买了一顶新帽子。

I think I'll treat myself to a holiday in Spain next year.

我想明年让自己享受一下去西班牙度假的乐趣。

二、 treat作名词的用法:

1、 treat作名词也有"请客"、"款待"之意。如:

This is my treat today, so I'll pay for everything.

这次我请客,一切帐由我来付。

We'll go to the theatre and I'll stand treat.

我们去看戏,我请客。

2、 treat作"使人愉快的事"、"乐事"解,相当于pleasure。如:

It's a great treat to live in the country.

住在乡下是一大乐事。

What a treat it is to get up early.

早起乐趣无穷。
